Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions new users ask most. Each links to the page with the full detail. For unfamiliar terms, see the Glossary.

Getting started

How do I get to EndpointOps in the first place? Open the address your administrator gave you (for example https://your-endpointops-site) and you land on the sign-in screen. If you don't have an address or an account, your administrator or provider sets those up- accounts are created under Settings → User Management → Users.

Which edition do I have, and why is a menu item missing? EndpointOps comes in tiers (ZiroPatch → ZiroPatchPlus → ZiroXpose → EndpointOps); higher tiers include more modules. A screen that "requires the EndpointOps edition" or "ZiroXpose edition" only appears on that tier and above. Your current plan is shown under Settings → Platform License. See the Glossary → Editions.

Enrolling endpoints

What does a machine need before I can enroll it? A supported OS (Windows, Linux, or macOS, x64 or ARM64), administrator/root rights, and outbound network access to your EndpointOps server. See Enrolling an Endpoint → What you need.

I installed the agent but the endpoint never appears. Give it a moment to check in, then confirm: the machine can reach the server (a firewall or proxy may block it), you ran the installer as administrator/root, and you accepted the EULA. If your environment requires approval, the endpoint waits under Agent Approvals- the Endpoints screen shows a banner when approvals are pending.

Using the product

What do CVE, CVSS, EPSS, and ZiroScore mean- and which do I act on first? They're risk signals for vulnerabilities. ZiroScore blends them into one number, so sorting by ZiroScore (highest first) is a good default. Full definitions are in the Glossary → Security & vulnerability terms.

What is "Scope" on deployment and policy forms? The set of endpoints an action targets- usually a filter (department, location, all computers) plus optional specific endpoints. See Glossary → Scope.

What is a "Deployment Policy"? The rules for how and when a deployment runs (now or scheduled, retries, reboot handling). You pick one on every deploy form; you create them under Settings → Deployment Policies.

Can I act on an alert, or only view it? The Alerts screen is where you review events; the rules that raise them are configured under Policy Management. See Alerts for what each column and action does.

Where do scheduled reports go? Reports are emailed to the recipients you set, using your Mail Server settings- so email must be configured and working. See Reports.

Access & recovery

A user is locked out by 2FA- how do I get them back in? An administrator reconfigures or turns off 2FA for that account under Settings → System Settings → 2-Factor Authentication. Keep at least one administrator who can always reach that screen.

We use SSO and the identity provider login failed- how do we get back in? Keep a local administrator account so you can still sign in if the SSO connection has a problem, then fix the configuration.

How do I remove the agent from a machine? If Agent Protection is on, you need the protection password to uninstall. Keep that password somewhere safe and shared with your team.

Getting help

The documentation didn't answer my question. Contact your EndpointOps administrator or your provider's support channel. When you report an issue, include your edition/plan (Platform License) and what you saw on screen.
